Just finished this game. It's so good. What should I expect from the other games? I have Blue Rescue Team, but haven't played it yet, and can easily buy/download Gates. Are the starter choices better? Had to use an AR for Sky because I really didn't like the starters.

But still, Rescue Team is better than Sky. Don't see why everyone sucks its dick. Gates was pretty weak, and the Wiiware ones are shit.

So, from what I can gather so far, Sky and [Red?] Rescue Team are considered the best. Why is Red considered better? I heard Blue's on the DS so that'll be convenient for playing on the 3DS.

Is Rescue Team less player/partner centered? Again, I really don't want to cheat again just to use mons I like.

Red/Blue are the same game with the exception of ONE main story change, which is Roselia in a dungeon and not in the other. Otherwise, version exclusives never amount to anything because you can use WM generators to get the other game's exclusives. Sky is basically an improved Time/Darkness, and Gates is as another anon said, dumbed down trash.

Eevee is the worst partner. Run Away is terrible. Didn't like playing as Shinx too much, either.

OP, if you want replayability, just do a hard mode with the Action Replay and use Zigzagoon as the leader and Poochyena/Eevee for the partner.

Don't get Gates. I adore Explorers and Blue/Red Rescue Team is quite nice, too, but Gates is trash. Poor choice of starters, schizophrenic level designs and difficulty, eye-watering visuals, and honestly there's very little of the emotion present in the previous games. The only good things about it were Hydreigon and Kyruem. They were pretty based.

Gates was a letdown. No way to change the text speed, starts choices very limited, story is boring and stale. Axew makes the game instant easy mode. The final boss is a fucking joke.

Which is why I specified Time/Darkness/Sky, because Normalize was added in gen 4. Worst ability for a PMD game.

So yeah, Pokemon Mystery Universe's website is back up. Last thread someone brought it up but the server was (obviously) shut down.

If anyone has questions or wants more screenshots, I'll do my best to supply answers.

Real-time Pokemon Mystery Dungeon MMO. You can have a party of four Pokemon, and group with three other people to explore dungeons. There's around 35 dungeons right now, more are still being added but the newer dungeons add more to move through.

Most Gen 1-4 Pokemon are in, a decent amount of 5 and none of 6. Gen 6's level up and learnsets are installed though, along with Fairy type.

Yeah, there's Harmonic Tower, which is a dungeon you have to have a full group for (you have to press a switch every 4 or so floors to open the stairs, but after 25F there's two switches you have to press at the same time, and then 50F+ has 3, 75F+ has 4).

There's also Tanren Chambers, which has 99 floors for each type and you can't bring items in. YOu have to travel between types if you wanna get anywhere in it.

I think Seafloor Ruins is around 100 floors too.

Rescue Team has an excuse plot, less polished gameplay, but more meaningful post-game content.

Gates is a huge step back but can still be enjoyable. I liked the plot as much, and it handled the self-insert aspect the best by far. The biggest issues are the lacking Pokemon roster and the shitty post-game. If they used it as a base for a Gen 6 game and fixed its issues it could be pretty good.

My friend had problems with Treecko as his partner during blue rescue team, especially during the volcano level leading up to moltres because Treecko would use quick attack on sleeping fire types just to get raped by ember or something.
Then I told him he can tell the partner not to use certain moves.
He managed to complete the dungeon on his 3rd try after that.

Red/Blue Rescue Team - Pretty good story, great difficulty

Sky/Darkness - Great story, difficulty is decreased

Gates to Infinity- Story was OK, holds your hand way too often, HUNGER REMOVED, so unmemorable I had to google the title. All I remember about the game is something about friendship. Didn't even make me cry.

I just tried to play this. It was hard to tell when anything was attacking since there was no attacking animations. All the sprites were also tiny. It's nice to see them keep to the original sprites but it is a bit hard to look at.

The gameplay is completely repetitive.
The story is cliche as fuck and only autists who have never read a book think it's good storytelling.
Don't even evolve as part of the storyline. Lame.

I genuinely enjoyed Gates the most out of the three. Cut content wasn't an issue for me given I never played the games past the post story events and Gates at the least had a decent story, albeit let down by massive walls of text
