Hazards balance otherwise extremely powerful mons like Charizard and Talonflame, and allow for tactics that rely on keeping them on the field and forcing enough switches that your sweeper can clean up, which is a valid and interesting layer to an already interesting and multi-layered game. BP chain teams were literally copy-pasted from one guy's RMT, and required little effort to be good. You know how you anti-sim cunts are always bashing Smogon because people copy and paste individual sets? BP chains and Swagger teams were the worst offenders of copy-pasted teams.
You know why GF has latched onto Doubles? It's not because they're more easily balanced, it's because they don't need to balance them at all. They're also extremely short for tournament purposes. People want to play 6v6 singles. Maybe you don't, but other people do. Even if doubles are pleasantly easy for GF, I don't think it's a lesser style. I want options is all.
