X and Y were definitely a step in the correct direction. I hate Japanese bullies, so I verily applaud the introduction of Trevor, Shauna and Tierno. I'm fat, so I thank Gamefreak for giving us fatties a spotlight. I really liked the lesbian undertones with Shauna during the fireworks scene. Being a lesbian myself, I can only hope they create more non-heterosexual relationships in future games. (Please! >.<) And Trevor was a really great pokedex rival! I think I just barely won when I had only caught 5 Pokemon in the mountain region. As for Calem, the game really made me feel like a mentor for him. As the game progresses, you slowly help him discover his strengths and become a true pokemon trainer. I love it.
Gamefreak, please make more rivals just like these in Generation VII.
