Is B/W2 objectively one of the best pokemon games?

I mean shit you guys. Shit. I'm replaying through it now, just got to the white forest battle room bullshit and its great.

This just beat out HG/SS for me, and im a genwunner nostalgia fag.

It is, really

It has a ridiculous amount of shit to do once you've completed the main story, which is probably just like 1/3 of the game's full content. The loss of the wi-fi events and dream world doesn't even faze it much it's still top tier.

I'm not a big fan of BW, but I kind of like what they did with the story, making it matter to the game. I feel like BW2 tried to do that too, but it really just felt like Hugh McGIVEMEBACKMYKITTY was following you around to have shitty littly scenes where he goes rage mode on Plasma Grunts until the climax, where the game starts to get good and then fizzles out really fast. The content was decently good, but the Pokemon diversity, while being better than most other games in the series, felt lackluster compared to something like BlazeBlack or VoltWhite. Maybe I'm just jaded, but I felt like BW2 wasn't as amazing as people try to say it is.

HGSS, however, was a steaming pile of shit.

What would you say those brought to the table.

I recall liking the way the protagonists looked, as well as the team of that era not being retards quite as much as others but I dont recall anything extrodinary about them.

BW2 was a good game sure, the only real downside was the playable characters designs were bad, especially the male protags. They really stepped down from the BW protags.

To be fair, the variety in the romhack you mentioned is literally, ALL of the pokemon if im not mistaken.

I really liked the diversity in B/W2, I had a team of 6 by the second gym I didnt wanna give up and I had my team for the rest of the game locked in by castelia.

I ended up going with these faggots

As for HGSS, walking pokemon, my favorite region revisted, and 8bit mp3 player stand testiment in my mind for some good ass shit.

The Arceus recreation event was also the tits.

Only pluses were improved metagame, cool playable characters, and a couple of actually cool/worthwhile pokemon. Other than that, games sucked.

Platinum, HGSS, and BW2 are all acceptable choices for the best. I'd say BW2 are the genuine best.

Perhaps I don't remember much, I'm about to do a playthrough of it again, but why do people say it was so good? It's been a long time since I've touched Diamond or Pearl so I guess I don't remember much what they did differently, but even then I wouldn't really claim Platinum as being one of the best games. What am I missing here?

Lots of content and probably the most "challenging" Pokemon games. It also isn't as linear as the Gen 5 games and doesn't have any glaring flaws like HGSS.

D/P actually had a pretty good Postgame, but was marred by slow surf speeds, a poor dex and other odd issues, IIRC.

Platinum fixed those problems, returned Gym Leader rematches, made the Elite 4 just a little better (aaron needed the better bugs and flint needed more fire types) and further expanded the postgame.

I suppose, Battle Frontier and the whole Battle Zone. This was before BW2 so the only game at the time that had more "postgame" would have been GSC and later HGSS, but as you said they have tons of shit wrong with them. But I can think of some flaws with it like all of the HMs you have to use to travel around, and aside from the evolutions for older Pokemon the new additions were mostly shit.

This too, it was great that Platinum expanded the regional dex. I don't know, something about it just doesn't seem that exceptional to me, but I'll replay it and see if my opinion changes.

I did love the underground though. More than I liked secret bases in Gen 3.
