For some things it was easier in Gen 3 - hitting a 1/60 second frame usually only takes a couple of tries, and that's when you're starting out.

In Gen 3, the RNG constantly zipped along at a speed of 60 fps. Gen 4 delays appeared to do the same, but that's because they either only moved along odd/even delays at a speed of 30 fps.

In-game, Gen 4 and 5's RNGs would not advance in most cases, while in Gen 3 it would always continue moving (except in a couple of cases).
