I had a friend who worked at gamestop who told me a story about this one weird guy who would pull that kind of shit until he went through all the pokemon cartridges in the store and then he'd repeat the process a few months later after the stock had 'refreshed' so to speak.

When I repurchased a used Leaf Green (after mine was stolen) the guy had saved in front of Moltres with a team of Blastoise, Jolteon, Pidgeot, Quagsire and Marowak

The guy was clearly soft resetting for Moltres or something, since he already had a team for catching it. I caught the Moltres, and then checked his pc - he had caught everything else - Zapdos, Articuno, Mewtwo and Raikou but for some reason left off Moltres for last, he also had 3 shinies: Diglett, Krabby and Sentret.

I transferred everything that looked good and was named.

All his trained mons had mundane as fuck human names, but I chose not to change them.

His Blastoise was named Robert, his Quagsire is Lenny, Shiny Diglett was named Jim among other things.

I have yet to transfer them from my Plat to 5th gen though - I've just been so lazy.
