>>20091549>leftovers fair enough, probably better, I play doubles on cart mostly and you can only have one of each item so I was hung up thinking that clearly OP already had a mon with leftovers. I really don't know why Smogon has not implemented this themselves, it could only help diversify the meta.
>air balloonits got SR so its probably almost always going to lead, balloon will get popped early and then your itemless, less knock off damage I guess.
>safety gogglesBecause hail is everywhere, being immune to spore/sleep powder is nice but it can't stay in on most of the users anyway because it just does not have the attack power to take them out, ie. Venusaur, Breloom
>shed shellYeah its really scared of getting trapped by magnezone, what with resisting both its STABs and hitting it back for 4x SE. Isn't shadow tag banned in OU? Thought I saw some anon bitching about it recently.
>owie reduction berriesIts 2x weak to fire/ground/fighting/water as far as common attacks go those 4 types are at the top so you have a 25% chance of reducing damage once, that could be enough to help you pull out with a win but I think a 20% chance to move first every turn would still be better unless you are having a serious problem with once certain set of a pokemon that you just have to use an excadrill with no attack investment other than being adamant to take it out.
>rocky helmetWithout recovery its not that great, almost everything that uses it has reliable recovery (Skarmory, Mandibuzz) and many of the moves that hit the mole for SE are special or non-contact EQ, scald, flamethrower. Also with drain punch being about the most common fighting move right now and most Close Combats out speeding and being OHKOs (Infernapes is a 62.5% chance to OHKO with OPs EVs even with its small 104 attack) the damage from it will be healed off or negligible.
Is it really any worse or difficult to play around than being caught off guard by choice scarf or weakness policy?
