Ritchie didn't defeat Ash in the traditional sense. If anything, it was Charizard who let Ash down. Harrison was using Hoenn native that Ash had never seen in Jhoto, so it gave him a pretty good advantage. Plus his Blaziken was probably as experienced as Charizard since it should have battled in Jhoto and Hoenn. Tyson was simply better than Ash at the time, but he'd probably lose to Battle Frontier Ash. The battle against Tobias does a good job at portraying Ash's development. He was the ONLY trainer in Sinnoh to defeat Darkrai and the ONLY trainer to battle against Tobai's Latios. Aside from the E4 and Cynthia, Ash was the second strongest trainer in Sinnoh.
What makes each of these League battles so satisfying was that Ash was inching closer and closer to victory after each league. He went from losing control to Charizard in Kanto to properly commanding him against Blaziken. He was top eight in Hoenn, but top four in Sinnoh.
On the other hand, Cameron derails all the development that Ash has undergone across every season. He usurped Gary in both Kanto and Jhoto. Trained with Agatha and conquered the Battle Frontier. Defeated naturally talented and competent trainers like Drake, Conway, and Paul. Yet he lost to someone as retarded as Cameron? Pikachu has defeated Regice and tied with Latios, yet it couldn't beat a newly evolved Lucario? Cameron is the embodiment of everything that went wrong with BW. Fuck Gamefreak's boner for that fucking Jackal. I hope it gets killed by a Flare Blitz.
