>>20101431I remember the run up to red and blue either before the games came out, or right during it. Some of the older kids on the school bus (I was 8) kept talking about the Pokemon Anime like it was the best shit ever. Then I saw that KFC commercial where they had the plush toys.
Anyway, I started watching the anime, and I was getting pumped. But I was a kid and I usually waited and asked for things for Christmas. Anyway, Christmas came, and at my house I opened up all my presents, but there was no Pokemon (I might not have even been expecting to get it). Then we went to my grandparents home, where all the grand kids opened up presents together. Anyway, it was the last gift, from my Grandma, and there was a big huge box. I opened it up, but inside that box was another box, then another, and then another. Finally I got to the last box, and there it was. Pokemon Blue. It was the happiest and most excited I ever was for a Christmas present. My mom actually joked later she kind of regretted letting my Grandmother get it for me after she saw the way my face lit up.
Anyway, not much of a story, but I can still remember opening those boxes, and what it was like to finally see Pokemon Blue in my hands.
