She's supposedly an ace trainer so make her be conscious of keeping that image like those honor student characters (but give her a little "closet pervert" side so it's not all serious). She already showed a refusal to keep losing so just expound on that.
Her development could be something simple like rediscovering the joys of being a pokemon trainer that she forgot at one point. This ironically makes her a better battler since she's doing what she loves now instead of obsessing over having an elite status.

What the fuck did Ash de-evolved in BW? He was already fucking Top shit in Sinnoh, he would have won that fucking tournament if it wasn't because of Tobias. He fucking beat his Legendary pokemon twice that not even a single trainer had a chance to do so. Also if Ash just reserved Gible as his sixth poke he would have stand a chance against Tobias since he mentioned that all of his other pokemon are Dragon types. It'll even look fucking cool seeing Gible evolve midfight holy fucking shit. After all that hype they built for him after Sinnoh League he suddenly went hell dumb the next season.
