That said, what would his set look like? Probably Earthquake for Aegislash, Meteor Mash for a huge STAB, but then what?

Not really, no. A set of Shift Gear/Meteor Mash/EQ/Thunder Punch yields optimal coverage, but gets shut down by Quagsire. Zen Headbutt gives you a chance, but then you lose to Skarmory. Foul Play Mandibuzz can also destroy you if it comes in on the boost. It'll be a fine addition to OU, though. Especially if it picks up Heavy Slam, seeing as it gained about 800 pounds from Mega Evolving.

Probably something like:

* Shift Gear
* Bullet Punch
* Earthquake
* Ice Punch

You would lose 30 BP in the transition from Meteor Mash to Bullet Punch, but you gain priority, which is much more important right now, especially when you can boost attack and have Tough Claws.

Steel/Ground/Ice gives at least neutral coverage to everything except Surskit and Shedinja.

Bronzong, Rotom-H, and Rotom-W have Levitate, which that coverage checker doesn't account for. Sorry. And both Meteor Mash and Bullet Punch make contact, so you're losing 100 BP in the switch considering the difference in power, STAB, and Tough Claws.

I didn't realize it before but Heavy Slam would be amazing on Megagross. Pretty much everything in OU gets hit with the full 120 BP from it except for Gyarados, Tyranitar, their megas, Dragonite, Kyurem-B, Mamoswine, Heatran, and Hippowdon.

You're dealing damage, you're making Sucker Punch fail, and you have six times as many PP. It forces them into a coinflip, at the very least.
Without BP, you'll probably lose.

MCX sucks, though. I've never not one hit one. The same with every other mega. Some of them are good in the right hands, but none of them are OP. The only mega that ever gave me trouble was the one time I faced a perish song team with MGengar and a bunch of trappers.

Excluding Ubers and Steel resists, M-Metagross's Heavy Slam has:

Considering the perfect accuracy of Heavy Slam, the only major power losses among relevant targets compared to Meteor Mash are Kyurem/Black Kyurem (60 BP) and maybe Snorlax. And STAB + Tough Claws is a 200% increase in power.
