I kind of wish they used the PBR models for inspiriation; I hate seeing most of the flying mon actually flying. It'd make sense if they'd used those models for Aerial Battles, but alas GF always shits the bed.

The models are fine, literally all they have to do is add new animations which is entirely possible.

Given that they won't be working on the models much anymore, it leaves more time to add new poses/animations.

The real problem is that GF is incompetent and has no real reason to listen to complaints, so will they even bother to change things?

Honestly, I prefer them constantly flying.
I mean, ground moves not working on them makes a whole lot more sense if they're in the air.
They do need to make them less stiff though.

This. If they left ground models for flying types, it would look terrible.

People would use earthquake and say "He's clearly sitting right on the ground!"
or complain that they didn't give flying type pokemon flying models

If they have to leave them flying, fine. But at least come up with a better animation than "dangling in the air like a child's mobile" But I'd still prefer standing AND flying animations.

actually I'm happy for 3d models not just for the graphic update, but also because they can just tweak them each gen instead of redoing every sprite and so hopefully they'll have time for something else I think I might be a little delusional here though

Editing the animations so it will stand shouldn't be too difficult. Just look at Amie.

Optimally they'll just have one animation for sky battles and a normal animation.

I really have no fucking clue as to what makes you think they won't make new models for Pokemon regularly.

If anything, they're just going to keep the ones they like and make new ones with new animations that they don't think look good.

Remember, X/Y were rushed games because Ninty wanted an international release and something that would ensure the success of the 3DS.
