I downloaded Desmume and Sacred gold from Coolrom, the thing is that whenever I try to load my savestates, the Topscreen goes black.

2 dead, Picantony the Pansear and Bugsy the Bunnelby Only allowed to use the center before I leave for the next route, can't backtrack mid route to heal, can't heal mid battle or at all in a gym. The routes feel like marathons, an endurance test until the next town over, and potions constantly run low because I spent most of my money on antidotes and a hat.

I feel like Volt White 1 has harder gyms but an easier overall game, while Volt White 2 is a more difficult game, but, has more manageable gyms just due to the fact they're not as 'gimmicky'.

Though with the changes inplemented, is Emboar any better? I know Im going to use Samurott in one of them, but was think about Emboar as well.

It can't be helped.

I realize you can catch most of Wally's team in the early routes, but I'm going to stick to one catch per route.

Next is either budew or swablu, whatever comes up first on route 45.

I thought about that, but grinding the starter to lvl 17 was too much. With China, I beat the gym spamming Take Down. But if I haven't caught Lillipup, this would be the first thing to do.

Also, I don't know if I face Roxanne, she seems to be strong. Maybe, after evolving Slovenia, I will come back and beat her.

Full team now. Got Magnemite too in Virbank Complex. The problem is that both Treecko and Magnemite have a Careful Nature. Hopefully, I think Treecko could have a set using Attack, right?

Grinding with Audinos up to 20 everyone to be ready to the next gym.

Well. Nuzlockes ain't much good if you don't follow the rules...and though I did beat Jupiter, an initial reset out of frustration at a certain member fainting was both counter-productive, immature, and served to invalidate my run - trying again was a call on the part of my conscience, if you can call it that. So trying once more, fourth or bust, at risk of seeming like a massive attention whore. This run crashes and burns, I'm just focusing on my dormant Pearl attempt.

Gone with Chimchar, back around. Gone through the first portion easily enough, almost back where I was. Lost Dodger, my second catch, in her first battle to a crit Tackle from another Bidoof...name was sort of ironic, I guess. And Icarus, my first, was recently felled in Eterna in that double battle with the Psychics that had a Psyduck. He took out an opposing Meditite, and was immediately fainted by a crit Water Gun for his troubles. Reaching Lv. 18 at a time where the others were 17 or a little less, for a brief moment, he soared higher than everyone else...and then his wings melted. More irony.

Just been grinding up for Gardenia, and even though Vlad is lagging behind a bit, I'm ready and raring to go, After that...Jupiter. Again. Hopefully better.

I kind of hated Volt White 1, just because of the pain in the ass rotation battle with a full team right in the start. I'm all for the increased challenge. But rotation battles are, in my opinion, dreadful bullshit.

Simple enough. Cherrim was surprisingly defensive even without Reflect up and Roserade's Magical Leaf did a fair bit of damage even against 'Mons that resisted it, but that's another badge down. Now, time for Jupiter. Again.

Ok, time to face Roxie. I think I'm going to do Work Up sweep with Furret or Herdier - don't know what to choose because Furret is faster, but Herdier can survive more hits. Recomendations?

This is Volt White 2. Garbodor is her last Pokémon in Challenge Mode. I don't know why, but here I am sure it is these options. But I think it is the same for BB2. If she had a Trubbish with Explosion, than you are playing Normal Mode.

D-Dance Dragonite and Volcarona will wreck tons of things later, Poliwrath and Meowstic are great for early-game power, and I don't even know what my sixth egg is but it will be pretty great.

Smeargle can be an issue but I'll try to work around it. Maybe as a Toxic staller.

Got the Togepi egg, and surprised me to no end when it was female when it hatched - with a Sp. Attack boosting nature and Serene Grace, no less! Did my best to funnel experience as much as I could...and then, passing through the section of Mt. Coronet leading to Route 208, and solely interested in getting back to Hearthome for better grinding, I ran into a Geodude. I thought I could run, given a Geodude's average speed despite the small level gap...and Selfdestruct proved me wrong. She...well, deserved better.

Before that, too, Liberty took the full blast of another self-destructing Geodude used by a Hiker, after Cadbury had been switched out for experience. Was not expecting the trainer AI to use a move that would sacrifice its own 'Mon...even if Geodudes are notorious for exploding. Even with the level gap being in Liberty's favor, his frailty meant that he stood no chance.

And after all that, to add insult to injury, Vlad was killed by a wild Bibarel after a first-hit crit Rollout. Because why not.

This almost leaves me up a certain sort of creek as far as Fantina goes - the only solid countermeasures I have to anything Ghost are Rotom, Cranidos with Pursuit and maybe Thief, and Luxio with Bite or Thief boosted by Rivalry, and unless I decide to add Clyde to my team, there is nothing that Shadow Ball does not hit neutrally.

Trying times ahead...and I may have to grind excessively to even try and guarantee a chance at winning without more 'Mons dying. Dark day. Fallen friends...deserved better.

Yes, there can be variations in the one Cynthia gives you. Relaxed is a speed lowering nature, while raising defense. Adaptability gives the Eevee a different ability than the one normally listed. If you want to spoil which go look in the documents included with the hack.

You can get 493 in both games, but in SG you do Ho-Oh before the e4 and you can still do whirl Islands too.

It's probably a really stupid idea but since Erika is my favorite Gym Leader I was thinking of doing a Grass Mono-Type of Sacred Gold.

Now, It seems like Bugsy is a complete fucking pain in the ass for a lot of people and if I have grass only Pokemon, I think I'm going to get fucking destroyed also, Falkner is the first god damn gym.

However, there are a lot of good Grass types in SG, Leafeon, Cradily, Torterra, if I can get far enough I should be okay.

Well, I'll be damned if that wasn't the most stressful and nerve-wracking battle of my run.

I did train more, but thought myself ready. On the trainers before Fantina, I lost Marshal to an opposing Haunter's Shadow Ball on the verge of leveling up...my greed cost me. Going through what was left, now determined to beat Fantina or fail trying, even with Kolokol lagging behind most of the party by one level and Mittens by two, I started out with Mittens leading, boosted by an X Attack to be safe, and one-shot her Duskull, sponging a Future Sight. To my surprise, Mismagius was sent out next, and Mittens took the imminent Shadow Ball as best she could while Bite brought Mismagius down into the red before her Sitrus was consumed. I switched into Kolokol, my best special tank, who took Magical Leaf with gusto, and after enduring another Shadow Ball, a lucky Hypnosis put her to sleep. A risky switch out for Jeeves led to a Flame Wheel putting Mismagius back into the low yellow, barely lasting through a Psybeam. With Kolokol back on the field, I went with Confuse Ray in a desperate attempt to whittle away at her further, since Extrasensory wasn't going to do much. Three turns passed as I used whatever healing items I had to keep him alive, hoping for damage...and on the fourth turn, it came. But on that turn, too, it became sharply apparent that I needed to heal up someone for Haunter as well, and since anyone I would switch into would either be KOed or harmed greatly by Shadow Ball, I had no choice but to allow the brave little Bronzor to die. And so, too, did I have no choice but to send out Propaganda - risk possibly being KOed by Shadow Ball, or definitely being KOed by Magical Leaf.

I went with Shock Wave, hopes riding on it. Aware of the speed gap, I watched as another Shadow Ball found its mark, and as the HP bar slid downwards...

And he held on with 16 HP from a full bar. I heaved a sigh of relief, and Shock Wave did the rest. Being Sassy helped after all.

Sent in Rocksteady aiming to mop up Haunter, but a Hypnosis kind of got in the way of that and Confuse Ray came soon after, so I just had her tank Shadow Claws and miss failed Sucker Punches until Mittens was healed up with the potions I had left. After that, all it took was a single bite.

It was grueling...but the badge is mine. I'm not sure what I'll do for Maylene yet, but I suppose Duskull and Rotom are good enough checks, and the possibility of me obtaining a Ralts or Kirlia on Route 212's upper half still remains, provided I use Repels and weather the trainers. Still, I'll see what happens. Currently playing the waiting game with a honey tree on Route 210. I'll see what develops.

More friends may have fallen...but they went down fighting, at least.

Decided to give this a go, I most likely won't get far but I'll try my best.

Natural Cure Chikorita is cool and no one on my team so far has awful natures/abilities. I need to make sure this Lotad survives no matter what because I'll definitely need him for pretty much the entire game so I have something that can take fire type attacks.

No nicknames just yet because I'm lazy and unoriginal. If I can think of a cool theme later, I'll name everyone, I just wan't to see how far I can get first.

I know. I feel like my biggest problems are Falkner and (if I even get that far) Bugsy. I'm expecting mons to drop like flys and sadly, I'm probably going to have to sacrifice a lot of them to beat it.

Rule idea: Can only face Gym Leaders and Rival with a team that has the same number of Pokémon, you have to temporarily box the rest.
Not only this give an extra challenge, but sort of gives you another chance in fights that catch you off guard.

Just arrived at Violet City and got my free Bulbasaur.

I'm thinking I'll level up a tiny bit more before heading into Bellsprout Tower, I've heard Spinda are a pain.

I'm starting to think of ways to beat the 1st gym now. Once Seedot evolves into Nuzleaf I think spamming Harden, heal, and then Nature Power=Tri Attack is a pretty good strategy, hopefully, since my Nuzleaf will be higher level, I'll be faster then most of Falkner's Pokemon too, but I doubt it, also, I might keep my Eevee unevolved for the battle so I can take more Flying type attacks.

So, er. Small complication.

Entered the Trophy Garden earlier today, and I ran into two Roselias. Going out to train, I was busy training up a Cherubi I managed to snag on Route 210...and then, because of a wire snag and because of the fact that the back panel on this thing was pretty much taken off in an accident, the 2DS fell to the floor and the battery slid out. And I was back at the Trophy Garden.

I went in at ~44/45 and I lost half my team agaisnt the ghost member alone. Granted, I made it through the rest of the E4 with those last 3 carrying me, but eh. Just play smart, and don't go in underleveled. Also, only attack or switch into someone if you KNOW you can KO. The E4's pokes can be surprisingly resilient, Shauntal's chandelure and Grimsley's Krookodile come to mind.

Despite Jeeves being one battle away from evolving into Infernape, in hindsight I really shouldn't have fought that Girafarig despite the level gap. Or maybe I could have, were it not for the fact that a retaliatory Psybeam scored a crit.

Stupid, stupid, stupid way to die...and there goes another starter.

Scraped through Wave's Floatzel after Ice Punch and Crunch proved particularly troublesome, and managed to get past Barry at Canalave despite how thoroughly infuriating his Heracross and Roserade were. Now, having just picked up a few new catches, it's back to the grind for my recently-acquired Gyarados and Gastrodon. Good nature for the former, and I need a Ground-type for the gym in the case of the latter, so it looks like I'll be hunting Gravelers.

Here's hoping I don't lose anybody else. Though I've probably just jinxed myself there.

However, we were able to beat the Elite Four without a single casualty after copious grinding, and a little luck. Huge props to Mozart for killing Hydreigon.

What have you guys found to be the most enjoyable and rewarding nuzlocke so far? I'm also talking about main series vanilla games, no rom hacks.

I've completed Platinum and it was very fun and rewarding at the end. I started Heart Gold afterwards and just haven't felt the same drive as I did when playing Platinum. Maybe because it isn't as difficult so the battles aren't as thrilling as they were in Platinum.

I don't know guys. Any recommendations or thoughts? Should I move on to a different game?

Didn't expect a Graveler to outspeed a Gastrodon, but their speed differences are minimal...suppose it was natures, I guess. Farewell, Captain. You deserved a less ignominious death, but that's the way it rolls every now and then, alas.

Stuck at a lack of options for a Steel counter, I decided to take Gligar into the team, and while not having the absolute best nature imaginable, he's proving to be very surprising as a Scizor. Picked up Magneton as a Magnemite in the ironworks, too, and I boxed Rotom because, ultimately, Magnezone has more reliability, more bulk and more resistances, and since the event has long since passed I can't even change Rotom's form to take better advantage of his nature. Unless I buy an Action Replay and hack the key in, I guess. But I'll see. Magneton is already excelling, but a day may come where Rotom can return.

Until then, more grinding, I guess. Just have to get everyone up to 40-41, clear Iron Island and then face Byron. He should be simple. Candice, on the other hand...well, hell if I know.

More difficult than I anticipated. That Steelix brought Gliscor to the brink of death after two Ice Fangs - the second froze him, no less - and Gyarados, though successful in taking the Steelix out of the picture, was ultimately felled by an unexpected Stone Edge that had to hit and sandstorm damage after she held on with 2HP. She went out fighting, though...and that's the best way to go.

Now at Lake Valor, clearing out grunts. Hopefully Saturn isn't too problematic.

Well, progress is progress. Just been generally grinding after clearing Saturn and Mars. Banking quite heavily on Lorentz for Candice, and having hatched that Riolu egg in Jubilife for a new location, I'm tempted to bring her in, possibly in place of Hedwig. Bashful nature, but neutral is better than negative or a nature that improves wrong stats.

Also had a tremendous stroke of luck in capturing a female Snorunt in Acquity Lakefront with a terrific nature for a Froslass, and I acquired a Dawn Stone with haste. So yeah, good stuff. Here's hoping my luck holds.

Based on what I currently have, what would be a good strategy for Grant? I'm thinking that Sandile or Machop would help against his Tyrunt, but I'm not sure whether it would be worth training them up.

Has anybody ever made a Nuzlocke where they flat out give you only shit Pokemon? Not even with randomized attributes, just really shitty starters throughout the entire game?

Because I wanna see somebody try to beat Gen 3 with a team of Rattattas that only know tackle, a Legendary with Normalize and a Pichu that can't evolve

I used Pokemon Amie in my wonderlocke and it makes it way too easy. The benefits are so overpowered.
Chance to dodge opponents moves, higher chance to crit, lose status conditions, survive attacks that would otherwise faint your Pokemon, leaving you on one HP and level up faster.
In important battles like Lysandre and the Elite Four, sometimes I'd just get lucky and dodge everything they threw at me, it was ridiculous.
As much as I think it's cool I'll probably never use it again in a Nuzlocke.

At Victory Road now and holy shit do I hate Sigilyph. The veteran trainer had a Sigilyph that did 5 successful hypnosis and by the time I finished with it every pokemon was at low health (Except the two that are weak to psychic that I was too scared to send out). Got through it at least.
