Give me a hand /vp/, I'm the worst at IV breeding and I am struggling to understand the mechanics behind it. I've watched videos, read guides... all of that jazz. If anyone could sum it up for me in very easy to understand steps, I will be eternally grateful.

Step 1) Get a 6IV Ditto
Step 2) Give it Destiny Knot
Step 3) Breed shitmon with the nature you want holding everstone
Step 4) Take it to IV checker to see what it has
(If they say "Stats like those simply cannot be beat" it means the stats listed are 31 IV)
Step 4: Replace Shitmon with a Shitmon with more IV's
Repeat until you have desired IV spread

I feel no guilt using genned Pokemon with legal stats+movesets. More time to battle instead of tedious breed chains.

I really wish Gamefreak would just get rid of IVs. Is there a single person who likes them?

I don't like the IVs themselves, but I like the satisfaction of breeding for something. I think it's pretty good the way it is now with the gen VI breeding mechanics. It gives people the satisfaction of breeding for a perfect Pokemon without the frustration of relying too much on RNG.

Main reason I dislike IVs is because I like to experiment with a lot of different Pokemon. Meaning I have to do a lot of breeding, which is easier as of Gen VI, but still a tedious task.

I perfectly understand with what you're saying, but I and I'm sure a lot of other people would get bored of the game really quickly if they just had an in game Pokegen at their fingertips and didn't have to work for something they really wanted.

I actually do. I love collecting shit in games, and this gives way more variety to pokemon. Picture this: 719 pokemon, all with 25 natures available, 6 stats, and a varying set of IVs, EVs, and Egg Moves.

Since you like breeding so much, just get into some basic casual battling too man, it's great fun. Hell, just start out by picking six bros you've already bred that cover each others types well, and copy and paste Smogon sets for them. You'll learn from there.

Breeding is relaxing for me. Battling is not. I started out not doing either, just catching Pokemon with random natures and getting my shit kicked in by friends of mine. Then I found out about IVs, natures, and EVs. Ignored everything but natures. Still lost. Got into EVs at the end of D/P/Pt and still got rocked.

Skipped gen 5, but in X/Y I got into breeding for good IVs and it was fun and relaxing. I have a lot of different egg group fathers sitting at 5 IVs, and a gaggle of Ditto for Natures. IV breeding is fun and relaxing, EV training isn't too tough even if it's a little boring.

Still get my shit kicked in online to the point where I get frustrated and go back to breeding. I have 3 boxes full of level 70+ penta perfect monsters with EVs, IVs, Natures, and egg moves.
