imo mega evo can be better than normal evolution because they allow mega to be broken more easily than normal evo. I bet Mega Mawile wouldn't be anything like what it is now if it was a normal evolution.

But the way it happened more of the things that got Mevos were able to get some love than they would with normal evos because they weren't giving a bunch of existing powerhouses access to eviolite. I mean imagine Gyarados with eviolite.
