Just did this, it's better than the electrode in:

Concept is the electrode opens, much like the pokeball that it is.
The "explosive build up of electricity" becomes its method of attack and its defense.
Mega Electrode stats:
HP: 60
ATK:60
DEF:80
SPATK:100
SPDEF:100
SPD:120
Speed goes down slightly to coincide with it releasing the build up, thus no longer having energy stored within it to be fast,
SP stats go up for obvious reasons,
ATK and DEF get slight boosts due to its new form no longer being as fragile and volatile.
