Filling the national dex

What's the fastest way to filling the national pokedex? Aside from catching what's just in the wild, I've been filling boxes full of Drought Ninetales/Anticipation Eevee/Protean Froakie and using them as tradebait. It has been really slow so far (only at 350).

What was your strategy?

Find a pokemon with maximum edge, that all the babbies go crazy for. Preferably one featured in a lot of fan-art. Then get a safari with that pokemon in it, and fill boxes of it.

I used Luxray (that gay cat with sasuke hair) and would get trades within 1min sometimes. Easy.

I just put up my breeding rejects on GTS with 5IV egg moves as the description while asking for the pokemon I need, works like a charm

Plan like everyday you do five pokémon. Manage to get them through GTS, GTS giveaway thread, friend safari or even wondertrade. Train them if they must evolve. Breed them if needed. Been doing that for a week, dex is filling really fast.

Get a transfer only Pokemon and breed a bunch of them. When I still needed the shiny charm I used multiple boxes of Castform and Misdreavus to get what I needed.

I focused on doing all the Kalos dex first.

Then went through the national dex making a list by generation of what pokemon I still needed. Then bred and traded 5 IV Vulpix to fill the holes.

Took about a week to complete it. (However I was able to pull Pokemon from Soul Silver, Black, and Black 2)
