It can't switch in on Talonflame, Charizard, Mega-Pinsir, Volcarona, or Rotom-Heat (which is everywhere in doubles). If you mispredict, you're forced out, or risk losing it to a banded Brave Bird, Flare Blitz, or sun-boosted Fire Blast. Heck, even Rotom-W would get it into trouble with Will'o'Wisp and Hydro Pump.
It can't do anything against a couple of common physical walls, and it quickly dies to entry hazard damage. That's pretty bad. It might find a niche in lower tiers though.
I'll take useful resistances over STAB moves myself.
