I just won my first ever link battle. Always played Pokemon for the single player elements before that.

That was fun. How exactly do I get better at this?

I went with Barbaracle, Pangoro, and Aegislash. 3 bros I beat the league with the first time. He opened with a Greninja, which my Babaracle made short work of. Same with his Mega Charizard X and his Talonflame.

Experiment with team formations until you just gitgud.

Also check the most used mon lists, either on PGL site (if you play Battle Spot) or smogon dex (if you're playing their format). Even if you don't want to use those Pokemon it's good to know what are you most likey to run into. It's extremely helpful in teambuilding too.

I used to hate EV training until they added horde battles. Plus X and Y have Routes for every stat near Pokemon Centers that make the whole thing really simple.

The only annoying as shit part is when it starts raining, cause then you can't use sweet scent or honey. Besides that, it's laughably easy to do now.
