I kinda thought the mother could pass for Mexican/Latino. I found it more odd starting out as the blonde blue eyed kid since those tend to be recessive traits.
Since you're not very dark, its easy to assume you're mixed.
And as far as genetics go; I worked with a very light skinned black girl. Her mother was white (French in fact ) and sent her to America young because of the racism. Anyway, she hated her mom so much she kept going with blacker and blacker men. The "funny" part? The kids kept coming out with lighter and lighter skin.

Do yeah, genetics are weird.

Plus it did jack shit for the player but provide useless text that meant nothing because they weren't pokemon specific.
