Remove IVs
Rebalance Ice by giving it some extra resistances, expand the movepools of both Ice and Electric types as a whole.
Items such as Cell Battery and Absorb Bulb grant immunity to a single hit of that type as well as buffs.
Parental Bond now ignores secondary effects, only hits once with Seismic Toss.
Paralysis only lowers speed, no longer has the chance to waste a turn
Roost activates any entry hazards' effect

God I hope you never become a game designer. Actually I hope you get hit by a bus, and then that bus crashes and explodes with you stuck to the front of it. And when the ambulance is taking you away, it gets hit by a bus as well, and the cycle continues.

More innovations and no I don't mean just muh fairies or muh 3d graphics.

Smarter AI so you don't feel like the main game is just the vehicle to getting the pokemon you want for competitive battles.

Better online features so I can actually look for a 4 person battle and not just hope 3 other passerby's accept the battle request.

Overall I think pokemon is getting better every gen more or less its just so....the same in a lot of ways, Don't get me wrong more of the same is fine if its done well but come on almost every storyline is the EXACT same in some ways.

But what do I know.

I think making more Pokemon who block the way like Snorlax, Sudowoodo, Red Gyarados etc would make things somewhat more interesting.

It's not that I enjoy when a random Pokemon block my way, but I really like it when you actually have to do something to be able to battle it, then catch etc.

Though I'm not saying that it should be the only time you can catch that specific Poke.

There's hundreds of forgettable Pokes like Finneon, Krabby, Whismur, Spheal etc that are absolutely irrelevant in all the games I've played so far. And I think GameFreak can improve on that.

Yes, I'd make a short event for every Pokemon that debuts that gen. I really liked the Crustle, Braviary/Mandibuzz battles.

The trade evo pokemon will only evolve if traded back to original trainer. This way the chance of Pokemon being stolen after evolution disappears and not many cares to steal a pokemon that will never evolve besides breeding purposes, which is a small chance.

Past the 3rd gym, no NPC trainer has less than 2 Pokemon.
Past the 5th gym, no NPC trainer has less than 3 Pokemon.
Past the 8th gym, no NPC trainer has less than 4 Pokemon.
Post-E4, NPC trainers have at least 5 Pokemon.
From the 4th gym on, Gym Leaders have at least 4 Pokemon, with the 7th and 8th having 6 each.
E4 have at least 5 Pokemon each, Champion has 6.

A single, competent rival who you, the player, WANT to beat. Make him a doucheass like blue and silver, showing up at inopprotune times and not offering a choice to battle, just diving right in. He should have a full team by the 6th gym.

Any mandatory tutorials should stay at the beginning of the game. Once you get your Pokedex/balls, that's it. You're done for tutorials.

IVs need to go. They were originally introduced as a way to make every pokemon unique, but everyone just breeds or hacks until they get one with perfect stats.

Replace it with a color system. Every pokemon species has a variable color palette and the colors are generated randomly when you encounter them.

So instead of Gyarados being always blue, you could encounter one that's purple, or salmon. certain colors could be more rare than others, like shininess.

the evil team hates natural pokemon and create a synthetic type, all are man made pokemon and porygon is synthetic rather than normal type now
the evil team is rumoured to not take peoples pokemon but to try and wipe them out to only allow synthetic pokemon to inhabit the region

the professor aids you in double battles against the evil team in one of their labs to get a "pokedex" of the synthetics
you still gotta catch em all but also you need to get info on the synthetic types on the alternate dex
the two cover legendarys are both synthetic/dragon type and are released by the evil team into the world later in the game, the dragon you got to stop depends on what game you are playing, they are released to ultimately destroy all real pokemon.
in the after game you find a large science lab where the remnants of the team are still creating pokemon
synthetics are neither weak nor strong to any type, have no advantages, immunities or resistances, a few trainers have them during the game but only because it is said that some escape the labs they are created in

Adding on to this, evil teams:
Grunts should be slightly weaker than NPC trainers, considering the player generally fights several grunts back to back, but they should at least evolve their Pokemon at appropriate levels, and later on have a diversified team. ie Drapion and Golbat instead of 2 Golbats.
The admins and leader should have at least 4 Pokemon each, with 6 when you're getting close to the end of the plot, and should not have diversified types. Give them something like Magmar, Malamar, Swalot and Magneton instead of 4 poison types.

Also make trainers give their Pokemon some items for godssake. I don't care if they're something as shitty as Oran Berries, just give them SOMETHING.

Horde pokemon get special attacks

Less trainers with the same pokemon over and over (probably the biggest problem with the games in general)
Different starters besides water/grass/fire. Maybe even a choice between a large number of pokemon

Don't be stupid, anon. IVs were meant to make pokemon of the same species unique (something natures already did by the way) but since they affect a pokemons stats, nobody treats them like that. If a pokemon has imperfect IVs, it's not "different", it's inferior. Replacing it with a color system would allow every pokemon to be unique, while still being equal in a competitive sense to others of its species.

Side quests that showcases newer pokemon.
Ex. A hex girl needs her Pumpkaboo to evolve but, she also needs a trevenant so you catch a phantump and trade.

make legendaries secret/hard to catch like in the older games.

balance the type chart (thats the most unrealistic thing)
battle damage visit a Pokemon center and potions get rid of these
field destruction like using flamethrower in the woods can damage trees
Or you can't use dig in the ocean
Also pokemon will only appear under certain conditions and seasons

I was thinking the same thing today. Ice types should be super effective against fairies and immune to their attacks. Then the advent of assault vest glaceon/avalugg will come to pass. They should also be resistant to water and grass.

I like it better when the Champion appears along the way to help you out, give advice, or just in general be cool. And also show up enough that you actually remember them like Alder and Cynthia, not Iris and Diantha who show their ugly mugs maybe twice and do nothing.

Though it could be fun to have a Champion who is just a smug asshole no one in the region likes, not even the E4. But since he's the strongest mother fucker around everyone's gotta put up with his bullshit because RULES.
