Without using buzzwords and "Because gen one babies" why is this bad?

I don't mean competitively, I mean design-wise. Why is this bad?

What is so wrong about GF doing what people have been talking about since gen 1 and making Charizard part dragon? There is still a flying/fire mega anyways.

Is everyone just trying to be contrarian? Is it just backlash from the unfair 2 megas it was given?

Shoulder spikes are stupid as shit.
Wings area really silly looking too.
Fire mouth is dumb too, especially considering it is physically oriented.
There's nothing really wrong with being part dragon, but going with a blue/black theme just seems like pandering to people who always wanted an edgier charizard, which are like 14 year olds.
Y does a better job at getting a pokemon that looks like an evolution for charizard. It even stayed consistent with the horn theme and the wings are actually pretty magnificent compared ot X.

Let me lay down a few explanatory points for its design.

1) Black is Charzard's alt color and has always been as long as shiny has been a thing. It being black is a nod to continuity as CharX is the alt mega evo

2) Blue flames are a nod to the fact that every dragon attack that uses flames to represent it uses blue flames. Hence the Dragon-zard's flames are blue.

3) The wings I will agree are a little odd

4) The shoulder spikes are there to reinforce the tough claws motif

They are historically purple to indigo. Arguing for blue is really stretching it. Especially Megacharizard X's shade of blue.

The color has changed from gen to gen, but blue has always been in there somewhere. It's not normal colored fire at least.

Dragon Rage is usually a lighter blue at least

4) Was there any reason for 2 separate Megas for Charizard? Mewtwo I could understand but for Charizard, it felt like a reaction to genwunners complaining when Y was announced because m-muh dragon

You know this argument kind of falls apart when you consider pikachu. If they really wanted to market they could have also released a megapikachu X and Y, one being stupid edgy like CharX or they could just ahve relerased the stupid edgy one and called it a day and probably benefited a lot from the decision. They could easily have adjust the lore regarding mega evolutions since none of the information would have been released.

They knew they couldn't use Pikachu for this because they had already decided on how Mega Evolution works, and before you go on about lore keep in mind that it has nothing to do with the lore.
Anyway, that's why they picked Charizard, considering it's one of the most popular pokemon with a mega evolution it would make sense to make it as well as Lucario the posterboys. Mega Zard X specifically because fans have been crying to GF to make it a dragon already.

Because not liking one pokemon means I shouldn't play pokemon all together? I just don't like anything about ChaizardX for my own reasons, trying to validate liking something because it was done for right reasons is silly. That doesn't really make sense. I also don't deny making Lucario and charizard the posterboys of megaevolution was a good idea. It was and I don't really mind that. I just find CharizardX a bad design since it was made to change Charizard theme a lot.

the fanbase is obviously divided in those who play in game, and those you play multiplayer.

Pikachu is there for the first half, charizard is for the second half.
And those two people will never meet in a marketing point of view; that means that noby ever will NOT buy the game or a doll or a shirt because eevee is not viable or because garchomp is not cute.

Garchomp has a much worse design than Charizard X, but Charizard X is one of my least favorite megas. I'm also pretty sure the word "edgy" has been used to describe just about all of the things in that picture (except probably Zard Y ).

It's mostly the fire mouth that looks like an ugly blue moustache and the fact that they suddenly gave it its shiny coloration which is stupid and probably just done for the kids.

It almost appears to me as if Y was planned for the whole time and at the last minute they chickened out and stuffed X in the game just to have something "cool" to latch onto little kids. leaving us with a Y that's decent looking but kind of generic in terms of the actual game

The reason why X is such a shitty looking mega is compared to most other mega pokemon having added flourishes to their design (fabio hair, extra mouth, RIBBONS N SHIT for Lucario/Blaziken), Charizard X's added features are much smaller and less intrusive. They seem to be designed so that they don't get in the way and make the color scheme being the most prominent feature. And since black Charizard is what ALL the kiddies and genwunners want, it feels like a quick and cynical attempt to gain some sales.

Natural Evolution:
Golet ->Golurk

Unnatural Evolution:
Electabuzz->Electivire

The first takes a lot of the traits from the pre-evo and expands on them. Little golem robot with spirals everywhere turns into bigger golem robot man with spirals everywhere, who happens to fly.

The second takes a lot of traits from the pre-evo and redefines them. Electric monster evolves into a a huge ape thing, loses electric crest on chest and fur everywhere. Head is completely changed in shape and coils are added to back to redefine the electric generator theme. Eyes no longer are white nad now are red irises.

Charizard Y takes a lot of what Charizard (Wings, orange color them, being a fire/flying, three horns, spikes from proto-charmander) already had and made them greater, Charizard X rewrites what Charizard is (turns it blue and black, now a dragon, blue fire, spikes everywhere).

Least that's the way I see it. when discussion "natural evolutions."

objectively I dont even want to delve into the stylistic choices, type changes or ability differences but how charizard and mewtwo each got two megas. Mewtwo can be argued into some logic with it being a legendary and deserves two I guess but charizard is a starter and should receive equal treatment to all other starters, the fact that they gave it two megas is blatant charizard pandering with no reasonable rationalization.

My Blastoise from fire red has a mega now.
My Absol from my Sapphire has a mega now.
My Scizor from my Sapphire has a mega now.
My Garchomp from my Diamond has a mega now.

And many pokemon I didn't use much have megas now, I don't see the issue. My brother used Charazard all the time and it seems Charazard has a move pool to be either physical or special so giving it mega forms to match that kinda seemed smart. while I cant really see a Physical venasaur or blastoise really....what moves would even be used?
I can see Blastoise with maybe waterfall but what else? Maybe dive?
I mean it seems each gen there is a group of people who just can't be pleased or hate change ..... learn to fucking EVOLVE .

Although, why they gave it two instead of combining the two Zards and making it the face of mega evolution in the games instead of Lucario is something to think about.

I actually went Y, I loved it. I do have minor things I miss like some mini games from the past and I was hoping to be able to ride on a larger amount of pokemon [like I thought it was a feature like a HM or something] , not to mention I miss having pokemon follow me like in soul silver

I personally can't stand dragon type. It's so overused by little kids wanting to pretend to be adults (see: teams of nothing but dragons because "SO KEWL!") that I've come to have pure disdain for them. It doesn't help that they've evolved, or rather devolved, from being extremely special in gen 1 to just another type that can be thrown around. It feels like GameFreak is pandering to the lowest common denominator when it comes to dragon type, ruining their own mythos just to make some spoiled children happy.

Giving Charizard dragon type feels like nothing more than more of that pandering, and ruining a pokemon for me I like by giving it what I consider to be the worst type in the game.

I think the design works as a counterpart to MCY, which is the traditional skin color (tradition vs shiny color theme).

I would buy it if the black was out of nowhere, but it's just not
