What did you first think of Pokemon before you played the games? How did you get into them?

parents bought me pokemon yellow when i was little, because my mother tought that 'the little mouse' looks cool. i didnt even know that pokemon existed

I watched the show at the suggestion of kids I wanted to befriend in school. I was too weird and annoying to become friends with them, but they set me on the weeaboo path with Pokemon.

I religiously watched the anime and collected the cards back then. Eventually I had a choice between 2 of 3 games: Sonic Advance 2, Rayman 3 and Pokemon Crystal.

Pokemon Sapphire was my first game.

Dunno, i was like 8 and the guy was twice my age, maybe he thought pokemon was stupid or something

As for me i already had DKC for the SNES so i didn't need the GB one, it came with the system when my parents bought it

When I head there was a game I thought it was going to be a side scroller for some reason. Maybe because up until that point 90% of games I had ever seen were side scrollers. I think it's safe to say that Pokemon was my first exposure to an RPG of any kind.
