the type is op but all of the mons are defensive or support oriented with very low speed

it's fine. adding fairy really wasn't a big mistake. they make much bigger mistakes all the time. aegislash, talonflame, and megakhan were huge misteps.

the worst part is that they had to go and change half the types of older mon to get half of their fairies

when Gen 2 gave us Dark and Steel literally the only type change was Magnemite/ton, and that made sense

are you kidding? that was the best part. normal mons had way too much overlap. granbull was "shitty ursaring". most mons that got the type were weak mons who benefitted from it.

I have no problems with the type it just sucks that only two of them are offensive. Even Steel has lots of offensive Pokemon now.

Changing a type from normal is different from changing it from psychic. They would have to revise Jirachi's entire moveset for that.

As for the lake trio, as said in another thread, GF probably wanted Xerneas to be the first legendary ever.

Do you realise how broken Steel would become if it was super effective against dragon? Or conversely how shit Dragon would become?

I was also skeptical about fairy being super effective against dark at first but with dark becoming the best offensive type now it is a good call.

I'm pretty sure lead developers and CEOs in Japan make significantly less money from massive hits than others in the world. They usually reinvest most of their profit back into the company instead of buying yachts and swimming in yen.

Yeah, too bad about Steel no longer resisting it and the huge buff to Knock Off. It's like Game Freak was being careful that Dark didn't become OP when improving it in other areas.

STAB CC and HJK were just as spamable as Outrage nigga. Not to mention the only types that resisted those were mostly frail and fall back to their massive coverage of Bug/Dark/Rock/Thunder and Ice Punch.

Fighting was the runner up of "OP" next to Dragon and Water.

Hey now, Mienshao is a grade-A threat in UU and it always has been. Fairies like Florges and Aromatisse do amazing things to the UU metagame, such as stopping Mienshao from running rampant with the Knock Off buff. I'm pretty sure that if fairies didn't exist, Knock Off would have been enough to kick Mienshao into BL.

If there are two things I always see people complain about when using Mienshao, even in Gen. 5, are its weak defenses and the fact that its most powerful STAB, High Jump Kick, badly messes it up if it misses. Not a good thing to have with Protect and Detect around. Mienshao was balanced from the start.

1. It has regenerator, so it has great longevity even if it misses a HJK (unless you get attacked that turn and things turn to shit).

2. Only wishpassers (that aren't Blissey) run Protect, and you'll know when they're going to Protect because they'll have most likely popped a wish beforehand.

Neither of these things makes Mienshao a worse Pokemon in the hands of a capable player. Hell, with Mienshao's coverage you probably won't be using HJK until late-game anyway.
