Because their typing fits the design? I dunno what to say, flying is weak to ice and dragon is weak to ice, but lots of dragons fly so they must be dragon/flying and thus 4x weak.

I don't see how you could retype any of those pokemon and still fit their designs.

Speaking of Ice, I think a better question would be why does GF make so many defensive Ice types?

It's the worst defensive type. At least Grass resists Ground/Water/Electric and Bug at least Ground/Fighting (only 2 worth mentioning).

Avalugg, as hard as it is to keep him steady, blocks a ton of moves all dragons can possibly use

Physical that is, Special defence is garbage but the funny thing is nobody bothers to pack a special attack to their dragons

You mean on their physically offensive Dragons right? Of course they dont carry special moves cause Avalugg is too shit in the competitive environment for Dragons to be prepared for. Garchomp rarely runs Fire Blast for Ferrothorn and Skarmory since people would allways have it paired with their counters. Also, specially offensive ice-weak dragons exist you know:

Non-STAB Ice Beam is complete shit nowdays.
Have you noticed that the main Ice Beam users in OU are Kyu-B and Greninja? Water types can't get past stuff like Multiscale Dragonite and fucking Ferrothorn without Ice STAB.
The issue with ice types isn't the type itself, is the bad stat distribution with most of them.
If Terrakion was ice/fighting it would still be a top OU sweeper. If it had Ice Shard it would be even better.

You talkin about fairy? As coverage, it wrecks Dark, Fighting, and Hydreigon more than your average Dragon. An LO Alakazam Dazzling Gleam fails to KO standard Garchomp. But HP Ice will OHKO. Only Fairy attacks with STAB will insta shut down Dragons.
