if you are breeding a sandslash you will probably want it to have 31ivs in all stats except special attack. getting 31ivs in all six stats is much much harder than getting 31ivs in five stats, because one stat is always random.
you usually want to try and highlight a pokemons best stats. sandlslashs attack is it's best stat. it's pretty slow. so you can either give it a +attack nature and just live with the speed or give it a +speed nature and try to make it faster. adament nature increases attack and lowers special attack. jolly nature increases speed and lowers special attack. in both instances you are losing special attack which is the one stat you really don't care about at all.
it has the ability sand rush which makes it fast in a sandstorm, but you could also give it a choice scarf and make it fast that way. if you are trying to just stomp your friends i would suggest making it jolly and using swords dance.
overall the options are vast. there are some situations in which you might want to strengthen a pokemons weaker stats, but that is only really if you want a mixed attacker or a mixed wall.
