Is there anything much to do after beating the game? Already did Battle Tower so can't really do that. Glitches I can try or something?

I'm trying to catch them all in Sapphire, I have Ruby and Leaf green, so I can get pretty close, only problem is the emerald only Safari Zone pokemon, Johto starters and FireRed exclusives.

You're right, it's not the same.

It's waayyy more convenient. Speedhack, button remapping, higher resolution, save states, cheats, actual working clock, no save errors, no batteries needed.

where do you live? USA? not sure about there but here in australia of all places we have a franchise named "gametraders" that specializes in the handling of retro games. sometimes we get NTCS games and sometimes japanese also.

Gen 3 is the 3rd slowest gen. And if you play fast input games with no unnecessary frames in both text or visuals, you'll see how painfully slow every Pokemon game is, with X/Y being at least a step in the right direction. It's all relative. Pokemon games as a whole make complex calculations each frame and Nintendo's weak CPU choices don't help.

This happened to a lot of people and had their saves deleted.

"The internal battery has run dry"

This doesn't remove your save, but it's still annoying as you lose all clock based events.

If I could avoid these by playing on 3DS, good. Right now I'll stick to emus.

Same places that have fakes floating around, like eBay, can have real ones too. It requires more work on your part, but it's not as if your sole option is finding a sealed Emerald in 2014 to get a legit one. Also,
