Are there any main series Pokemon games you'll probably never play through again?

I've just been playing Diamond to catch Finneon and Lumineon for my living dex in Y, holy fuck the battles are horrendously slow.

When I was organising the Pokemon I wanted to migrate from Ruby it felt like hyper speed by comparison.

I don't know how anyone could play through Diamond or Pearl without speeding it up on an emulator or something, unless they've never played any other Pokemon game before. I'm not ADHD or anything but jesus christ it's sooooooo slooooooowwwwww.

I'll also probably never play through Sapphire again since both Ruby and Emerald are superior in every way. :^)

Platinum is as early as I'll go nowadays. While I love Hoenn, I'm waiting for ORAS. The phys/special split is absolutely necessary at this point. I started with Red anyway so I've played through Kanto quite a lot already, and Gold was the game I played the most as a kid so HGSS doesn't tickle my pickle since it's not nostalgic and doesn't feel like a good game on its own since the region is absolutely terrible by today's standards and the sound design kills the mood for me.

I tried to replay it a while ago and didn't even beat a gym before I dropped it. That's the one and only time I've dropped a non-hack Pokemon adventure.

Something about Mt. Coronet, the pacing, the obtainable Pokemon, FOG, the marsh, the music (Oreburgh City is disgusting).

Maybe I'll like it once the gen 4 remakes come around.

Remember when everyone was going apeshit over the delay when encountering a Pokemon in the grass? (the grass animation to be specific)

Hardly seems noticeable compared to horrific it was capturing Finneon and Lumineon.

Black and White were garbage. Might come back for the music.

Still haven't finished my Nuzlocke for B2, shits so easy though. At the flying gym and I've only lost one pokemon that I didn't want to train anyway.

I would have skipped Gen V completely if it wasn't for the necessity of transferring Pokemon.

I honestly preferred 2D static sprites to the pixelated messes that move around constantly in B/W

D/P/Pt and B/W. I hated Platinum so much when I first played it that it made me quit Pokémon for years. Earlier this year I decided to give it another try, and this time played through it, but I didn't enjoy it. Sinnoh is really boring and uncosy, the only highlight is the journey through the snow in the north; Team Galactic is as edgy as it is generic, and the selection of available Pokémon is subpar as well. Worst entry in the series for me.

Won't be playing through Black another time either. I always felt driven/chased by the plot (which was at least good) instead of exploring the region at my leisure. There being no Gen I–IV Pokémon available until the post-game only made it worse. Would totally play through Black 2 a second time, though, because it fixes all of these problems and adds a lot of content to Unova.

I know that, but I try not to talk about hacks when people are discussing the quality of the base games since I know most people haven't played the hacks. VoltWhite would be my favorite Pokemon game if I counted them the the base games, but I try not to.

I think I really hate Gen 4 because of what they did to muh Gen 1 bros like Rhydon, Magmar and Electabuzz, hell even Lickitung used to be pretty cool.

RBY: Just finished Yellow, drew up a chart of all original 151 pokemon and ticked off every one I've ever raised. Only 17 families leftover, and the best of them was Cloyster. Blue has its pokedex finished, even Mew (vie glitch), so I'm done with it.
GSC: Batteries.
RSE: Rubies 100%, but Saphire remains and I'll probably nuzlocke it forever.
LFFR: Leaf same as Saph above.
DPP: Only have platinum, I kinda liked my first two playthroughs, may replay again. Only on vacation, though, otherwise battles feel too slow.
HGSS: 100% Pokeathlon, including some really good records. Won't replay.
BWB2W2: Black is now for nuzlockes, B2 has a 99% pokedex- damn event legendaries- and is a breeding pen.
XY- Finally leading to X- no. I don't see any reason to replay this after my first run. First pokemon game I can say that about.

Man, not having old Pokémon available in Black/White was the best part! Instead of assembling the same team every time you had to make new friends, which I thought was really nice. Not much to do after beating the E4 was a bit shit though, although at least there was more than in XY... BW2 did have a really nice amount of post-game content though.

But when you've got shittier/uglier versions of old Pokemon everywhere it's like they might as well have just put the old ones in. I can see where they were coming from giving it a 'reboot' feel but for me it just soured the experience. B2/W2 were superior in every way.

I also hated all the internet connectivity bullshit in Gen V. The C-gear was the most useless piece of shit ever. I'd rather use Poketech from Diamond

Such horrible distribution, johto pokemon only being available in Kanto, stupidly low encounter rates unless you want to wait for swarms, butchering of areas like mt. moon

The only thing that interests me in the games are the glitches and the nostalgia I have for finding them and exploiting a game with an Action replay for the first time.

But that feeling can't be emulated, it's an abstract kind of feel.
