Just got a DS emulator and holy fuck are there a lot of pokemon games on it. Black and white 2? I didn't even know they existed. Which out of

Pearl
Platinum
Black
White
Black 2
White 2

Is most worth playing for someone whose last game was silver. And that's not even counting the remakes. I'll be playing single player, doing a nukelocke.

Also consider Heart Gold and Soul Silver, they're both pretty good apart from the shitty level scaling

Anyways, Ignore D/P, Platinum is far better than both. Heart Gold and Soul Silver (Which you didn't mention) are solid remakes of Gold and Silver, worth a play. Black 2 and White 2 are best played after black and white

In terms of difficulty on that list, Diamond and Pearl < Black and White < Black 2 and White 2 normal < Platinum < Black 2 and White 2 challenge mode

I'd say Black and White. BW2 has more stuff and more variety in Pokémon, but the story follows on from BW, so it might be better to do BW first.
Platinum is good too, but I always found Gen 4 kind of lacking in general.

Thanks. I've done it before on my old red cartridge, just not kept up with the newer games. If you accept the broken mechanics as part of the game it's really fun. Looks like I'll give black or white a go.

Skip Diamond and Pearl, Platinum fixes the issues they had. I'd probably pick HeartGold since you've already played Silver, but SoulSilver could be better if you'd prefer some nostalgia. Be warned that they incorporate a lot of the Crystal story elements, so it won't be quite like you remember.

If I was after nostalgia, I'd get the originals, the remakes always felt a bit weird to be honest. So I'm not going to miss a bunch if I jump straight into b/w 2?

I mean, the story is a direct sequel to B/W, so you're going to miss the connections between them. But if you don't give a shit about story then no, you aren't really missing anything.

I know it's on emu so it might be a moot point, but you might want to check if there's any way to activate unova link anyway.

you can increase the challenge and it does unlock extra battles, encounters and mons for the main and postgame
