>>20222954Thing is, even a potential counter or check can fucking die because Aegislash has the ability to seal your fate even before you close the Team Builder. It's an incredibly versatile mon that can do virtually everything it wants. The -only- prediction skills required for Aegislash as the King's Shield mindgames, making it a low-risk, high-reward Pokémon that severely limits what's viable and what's not.
In a game where 718 different 'playable characters' exist, it's impossible to be prepared to take everything on, but a good team combined with a skilled player has the ability to overcome threats little by little (ie, well-timed Taunt / Sub, entry hazards, etc). However, it is actually possible to have a team that's "Aegislash weak" despite having potential checks in it. Think of Gen 4's Garchomp. Weavile, Mamoswine, Bronzong, and Skarmory all existed in OU, yet Garchomp could potentially play around them all, just like Aegislash can. Same goes for Gen 5's Genesect, and so on and so forth.
tl;dr
I don't think Aegislash is broken by any means, but I consider it has a negative impact in the OU metagame since it literally forces you to run very specific stuff to approach it (ie, EQ Mega on Pinsir), and even then, you might not be able to, due to it's amazing versatility.
For the sake of an argument, here's a list of everything that Aegislash can viably boot:
>Shadow Ball>Shadow Sneak>Iron Head>Flash Cannon>Head Smash>King's Shield>Sub>Toxic>Sacred Sword>Pursuit>Swords Dance (sorta)>Life Orb>Air Balloon>Choice Specs>Leftovers>Spooky PlateAs for those saying "Yeah, but it can't run all those at once you cunt": Good luck figuring out what is Aegislash running from Team Preview alone.
