what if the remakes weren't actually remakes, but the area was kanto again?

it'd be hard to try to stay true to a semi-remake without making it either only the original 151 pokemon until you finish the E4, or making it the routes.

I might like it if they opened up the region. Like, the routes are still there, but you can go off-route into all the in-between spaces on the map, and the in-between space is all grass/water/caves so Pokemon are constantly appearing. That way routes could stay true to the original Pokemon distribution, while the in-between is all newer gen pokemon.
