I used Masquerain in a Volt White 2 complete version run and was pleasantly surprised by how good it was. It's a shame it's so shitty in the actual games.

Don't worry, in gen 7 when we get three type pokemon it'll finally be bug/flying/water.

(it's possible for pokemon to be three types now thanks to Trick-or-Treat, clearly they don't think it's too complicated for kids to understand)

There are other things that add a type, but I was not aware that was how it worked. I thought it replaced a type, but then I asked myself "which type does it replace for dual types?" This would make more sense, but it would make a ton of things about how pokemon are typed moot.

It has became another unoriginal type average bug the same moment it has lost it's water sub-type while kept water type level-up moves that were nice for coverage but such a shame for the lack of the stab factor while it doesn't have lot of flying type moves instead.

Should have been Bug/Water with Intimidate and Levitate.

I didn't remember it had such terrible stats, 80 Sp.Atk and 60 Speed are pretty garbage, should have kept at least part Surskit speed and had at least 90 in Sp.Atk.

Personally, I think that the volt white hack evened it out pretty well.
