I dislike the fact that whoever makes the Pokemon models now simply rips them from existing games and decreases the polygon count rather than creating them in a Minecraft-looking way like before but I still want to play it.

They're slowly overhauling the old. Snorlax is finally not a cube, but there's a ton of older models (mostly gen 1) that look pretty bad.

actually, they're not really doing any actual work. they're taking the models from games and having a program automatically decrease the polygon count. it's a lazyman's version of making a minecraft Pokemon model.

i like it that way though. it's just odd that they haven't done all the pokemon yet, since it requires no human interaction to do any of it.

Its fun as hell if you're playing on a server, but by yourself there's only so much you can do.

They need to add gyms or something, aside from the random bad AI trainer battles there's no real reason to train your Pokemon in Single Player.

It was made to be modded, but not becuase Mojang made it that way.

We had to take the game in our own hands. Do you see the shit people have made? Books upon books of spells, insane amounts of biomes, worlds, equipment, ores. You can raise and ride a fucking dragon and produce machines powered from natural energy to mine or preform other tasks for you. All from the fans.

It took Mojang a years to add a fucking horse for saddles and a few new blocks. God I hate that company.

i think this would be way better if the pokemon actually all acted differently instead of standing there and walking sometimes

for example, when this thing was first being made and i saw trapinch, i was hoping they'd have it actually make sand dunes like it says in its lore. some nice touches like that would add a cool feeling of realism to the mod that the regular pokemon games can't emulate

The last big update kind of changed around Pokemon's AIs a TINY bit. Some species are more aggressive now while some run away, and there's a bunch of cool unique walking animations like Infernapes which is actually great. And there's the day/night cycle of Pokemon now which is cool. I hope they experiment further into it, it could have a lot of potential.

Java has nothing to do with the graphics. Modern OpenGL is accessible with LWJGL, Minecraft just doesn't use it to it's full potential. JMonkeyEngine has some examples of good looking Java games.

With Pixelmon you have to have use Minecraft Forge and install the Pixelmon mod with it. Then just connect to the server like any normal server.

I have a rather mixed reaction after spending a few hours on a cracked server after reading this thread yesterday :

-Most servers are survival only, you fight against trainers in classic pokemon style but the rest of the survival mechanics carry over.

-Crafting pokeballs is tedious but doable.

-day night mechanics from gen 2

-the 3d models are great but the voices make me cringe

-How much fun you can have really really depend on the server, I've played on a beautiful server but no gym leader was online so I got bored after a while just wandering aimlessly.

-I also found the server I played at too restrictive, no teleport function, coord sharing is bannable, fucking land protection locking you out of mining. Sucks because it's one of the best looking servers.

They clearly just let some kids on the forum record noises and use them. Beedrill is literally a <10 year old boy going "zzzzzzzzzz" into a microphone.

WorldEdit is useful and Essentials for Bukkit/Forge is, well, essential. Adds a shit-ton of useful commands.

Why does this mod have shit compatibility with the Nether and End? Pokemon in the Nether can corrupt data and I don't think you can even send out pokemon in the End. And they say they have no plans to have pokemon spawn in either. What's up with that are they lazy or is it really that hard?

No, Curse has a program like ventrillo. You set up a room and can copy paste the link to the room out, and anyone who pastes the link into their address bar joins the room. You can mute individual people, so it works a lot better than skype or stuff.
