>>20245270You're not wrong, but there's a legitimate medical disorder where a person's brain chemistry more closely matches up with the opposite sex than it does with the sex of the person in question. Basically, the head keeps thinking that it should have male/female features when it has the opposite, and this causes all sorts of mental problems and shit. From what I've read, you can't change that chemistry to make it match up right, so changing the body through surgery/hormones is the next best thing, because gaining these features apparently lessons the "feeling".
It's actually a kinda interesting thing, in a "wow fuckups are cool" kinda way, like snakes with extra heads or people with extra limbs or something. I'd go more into this shit, but my posts get more retarded the longer I type.
Now, tumblr goes full retard about it. People there seriously believe that you can have the disorder without having the one thing that sets a person with the disorder apart from a person without it, and they're ridiculously annoying about making sure that you know that they "have it" and treat them like they're some sort of wonderful person because of it. They're also fond of telling people that do have the disorder to stop saying that you have to have the symptoms, because it's literally oppression to tell people to stop pretending they have a disorder for special snowflake points. Though I'm not sure if that's the case here, I've noticed that a lot of these people do say that they're off the gender binary.
