You can dislike Barry for his personality but you can't deny that he's a more competent rival that those two, he's also not just a walking overdone stereotype like Cheren and Biance, one is the goofy girl and the other is the nerdy boy of the group, ah ah how original, the fact that gen 5 storytelling focused more on their characters made them more humans, but they still are two dimensional characters.
