Topic is mildly /a/ related, but I'm focusing on Pokemon. Share what you're picking up or having picked up. Are you going for l-lewd doujins or cute parodies? Perhaps you're going for the feels? Maybe a mix?

Last I checked, Pokemon wasn't welcome there. It's not really welcome anywhere outside of /vp/, hence the reason why I made a Pokemon doujin thread here instead of on /a/.

They're purchased from the artists and kept in private collections like mine. I'd say around 70% of my collection is un-scanned. I don't speak moonrunes though, so I have to enlist the help of a friend who translates my scans for me. We have a good system. I buy the stuff, he gets free private scans for his services.

Do you two then send/sell them to sites like Doujin-Moe/Sadpanda/Pururin/Fakku? Or by "private scans" do you only keep them between yourselves?

I have that one. It's by Origami Ranch. They have a new one at C86 this year that I'll be picking up. It has Diantha, her M-Gardevoir, Wally, and his male Kirlia. The preview looks great, and I can't wait to get the book in-hand. Thankfully I don't live in a country where importing that kind of stuff is illegal, because it'd be suffering if I couldn't get it.

I mean, my motives for asking are selfish, but I'd implore you to upload to some free sites doujins that you have that those sites might not - whether it's pokemon (which needs more love) or something else.

Don't know. I've never run across that one. Perhaps another doujin bro will come in and answer your question. If I had to guess though, I'd say a Chinese artist did the doujin. I've run across some that are Korean only, but I never bother with those because I have no means to translate them... unless they look really good, in which case they become a nice picture book.

That's another Comiket 86 (C86) book.

If you see on Pixiv a piece of artwork has C** in the title or as a tag, that means it it/was a doujin at comiket. Go on Pixiv and search "C86" with your fandom of choice to get an idea of what's going to be at the event this August. If anything tickles your fancy, contact a pickup service. It usually cost about $8-$10 a book. Shipping in minimal depending on how much you buy.

It's also important to know the laws of your country. Don't import anything loli if it's illegal.

Did you not read my post? See the "C85" in the title of that doujin? It means it was sold at Comiket 85 back in December of 2013. Short of finding it on Yahoo! Auction Japan or some obscure auction site, there's no way to buy it. As far as scans go, you're at the mercy of the owners of that doujin. While it's not unheard of for scans to show up years later, it's definitely not likely.

In Japan, many doujin artists ask that readers destroy their books instead of re-selling them if they don't want them anymore. It's a cultural thing. I don't know how respected the request is, but if you don't get it at the convention or immediately aftwards by scalpers, you're essentially SOL. I browse Y!AJ all of the time and have never seen that book for sale.

That's why I suggest people buy the doujins they want. The majority of doujins never get scanned, and by paying a few bucks, you guarantee yourself a copy.

Is that's what happened with Origami Farm? I was reading his tweets to the best of my ability, but now that makes more sense as to why they were linking each-other's Pixiv pages.

Out of curiosity, what services have you used in the past for pickup? The person I usually use isn't responding to me, so I need a contingency plan ASAP.

Yes, it's censored. Sometimes doujin artist get in trouble with the law if they under-censor their work. They have all sorts of laws over there about censorship, and nobody wants to remove them because it'd be political suicide.

Japan has a weird culture about copyrights and such. It's an accepted part of their culture and law. Just because doing something like that in the US/UK/etc. would be illegal doesn't mean shit because it's legal in Japan. It doesn't entitle you to a free scan because the laws in your country are different than Japan's.

If you are buying them from a source that isn't the artist themselves, and most of Yahoo auctions aren't from the artist, that isn't supporting the artist in the slightest.
tl;dr
Comiket comics don't usually go overseas and the artists themselves aren't prepared to selling their work overseas.
