This thing has long been problematic for me. Immediately, it seems to take the same role as Entei once did, only without the running around part. Usually one would be able to separate it due to regions, but not only do I not believe regions to be that disconnected, but Heatran has actually appeared in more than one region. However, there is also the matter that if you've been in the fandom long enough, you will realize that legends have long since gone redundant and it pretty much doesn't matter. Only the major ones appear to have powers that can certainly be separated from each other. I don't know why, but it always felt to me that Heatran is supposed to be more powerful than Entei. Sometimes, I've likened it to be the unofficial "fourth" of Groudon/Kyogre/Rayquaza, but it doesn't follow the aesthetic, nor has it been shown to have any connection to them. There is some amount of persuasion that one can have it represent the molten inner part of the planet. I may go back on that, though, since Heatran doesn't even seem to be that important. It may just be that, a redundancy with Entei, which is itself a redundancy of Moltres. It could also be similar in power to the trio masters, although that may end up contradictory to Regigigas's power to move tectonic plates. (this powers volcanoes) Whatever the case, Heatran isn't really that important.
