Assuming it's a scrappy kanga, the ring target is completely unnecessary. If it's a mega, it wouldn't fake out anyways.

I do it in doubles, if I plan on kings shielding I'll take a rotom or something to pass the target to it and then to take it off afterwards.
Also comes useful if I want to use discharge on ground types too
