Barry was most likely the best one so far, at least based on his final team. May/Brendan as rival were pretty bad, worst part is where they didn't even evolve their starter or accepted post game rematches. Wally was just weak, his cleric, friendly and health related team was overall weak. Blue was fine at the time, a bit worse in the remakes. Silver was also average in both games as rival. N was pretty bad but at least changed his team a lot and was a sort of good in the post-game of BW2 being almost a borderline weather abuser, his final team in BW was acceptable and more than average.
Corless if considered as side rival was more interesting and the final match was as good as Barry's one.
No comment on Shauna, Tierno and Serena/Calem, good Pokemon but extremely terrible movesets that in some cases weren't even complete, even May/Brendan was more competent having debatable and average Pokemon.
