I think the ending flags for the Pokemon anime would be:
>meeting Ash's father
>Ash sees Ho-oh again
>Ash wins the league
The first point being something that was mentioned by the series director, and the second being something that just makes sense considering they haven't done a single thing with Ho-oh in the series since Ash saw it in the first episode and is supposed to be some kind of lucky sign or whatever. Which of course leads to the final point.
