>>20297848I liked X/Y, and thought they were a vast improvement to B/W/B2/W2, which I felt were incredibly unnecessary, underwhelming, and packed with subpar copies of older Pokemon to make up for the painful lack of those older Pokemon The starters were the worst of any generation, whereas X/Y have arguably the best starters, with more unique typing (for starters, at least) and aesthetically interesting designs. The Fairy mechanic presents a new change to the metagame, horde encounters present an interesting change to the earlier "wild double battle" mechanic, and the ability to gain experience even if you capture a Pokemon is a well-needed addition (our Pokemon earned that, dammit).
Character customization, while limited to superficial changes such as clothes and hair, is a welcome change to the standard "Here are you two character options, deal with it, now choose boy or girl." It allows for a player's personality to show more readily.
The PSS makes multiplayer even more engaging than previous online multiplayer, and along with Wonder Trade, allows us to meet people we wouldn't have otherwise ever encountered.
Kiloude City as a whole provides some nice entry into metagaming, with the Judge making IV's a lot easier, and the Friend Safari offering decent IVs and easier access to one of the few good mechanics introduced in Gen V, the Hidden Ability. Coupled with Super Training, which makes EV training easier to keep track of, and also more engaging than pointless grinding, we can have more fun with our chosen teams at maximum capacity, which we can test out in the Battle Maison (or the Institute if you're a masochist). Kalos, and in particular Lumiose City, feels much larger and immersive.
I like Pokemon Amie.
