Aegislash can do that with greater ease (now that Steel no longer exists) AND remains unpunishable by switching, priority, status, Taunt/Encore, etc.
The versatility of form switching means it effectively has 60/150/150/150/150/60 stats at any given point in time.
Basically, Stockholm Syndrome happened. It wasn't that Aegislash became any less good (esp. how versatile it is now vs. the Sword Dance/physical sets at the start), but more that we grew accustomed to it since there was no other alternative.
