How come it's so easy to get a gold trainer's card in XY compared to the older games?

I've never managed it before, the closest I've come was silver in BW2

wait, you don't even have to catch 'em all? boy how thing have gone downhill since BW2. it should have been

>become max rank in battle chateau
>get to the 50th streak and defeat a battle chatelaine in battle mansion (or defeat all of them so super multi doesn't counts)

i can't think of anything else worth doing

The games were rushed.
At the very least, becoming an Archduke in the Chateau is worth a trainer card upgrade. Same goes for discovering all of the Berry mutations.
Furthermore, the game awards you a rank increase just from seeing all of the Pokemon in the Kalos Pokedex instead of catching all of the Pokemon in the National Pokedex, which is probably because of how Pokebank didn't exist until late in the development.

i thought about the o powers and amie one, but i don't think they are "trainer achievements", they are just regular things you do. the berry mutation one should be an achievement in a farmer card i guess?

BW2 gave you a trainer card upgrade for doing all of the PokeStar movies, and for getting your Black and White Entree level to at least 30. BW gave you a new color for getting all of the Entree powers as well, in addition to collecting all of the musical props.
