With ORAS coming out soon I'm trying to figure out a good naming scheme for it. I've done planets/moons in W2 and French names in Y, but I haven't come up for one for the remakes yet.

What are some of your naming schemes?

I've done Greek gods/goddesses, which was fun.
Also did moons/constellations, although that was already mentioned.

I think my next one will be foreign languages (ie. pick a word that describes a 'mon, then use that word from a different language to name the 'mon).

I have a tendency of naming my pokemon after bands, albums or songs by specific bands. For example, I named my entire team in White 2 after albums by progressive rock artists (Fragile for liepard, Tarkus for scolipede, etc). Other themes I've done are dictators/tyrants (monodark run), mountains (monorock run), stars, heroes from folklore, different gods, JJBA characters (named my infernape Avdol and it kept going from there), bosses from Metroid games, and different lethal poisons (monopoison run). I've done others, but these are the ones that I can name off the top of my head.

I have also done; Foods, colors, landmarks, the first Item that catches my eye after capturing the mon, alloys, and back when I played yellow I named myself Pikachu and named all my pokemon after characters from the anime.

Places - can be cities in a country or countries in a continent
Historical Figures - kings, heroes, pirates...
Musicians -can be split to types like strings or winds
Food - can be split to fruits, desserts, vegetables, delicacies, main courses, drinks
Weeb shit - DBZ characters overlap with food though
Currencies
Historical Artifacts (they tend to break character limit though)
Mythological Creatures - angels, demons, gods, you name it
Colors

For smaller runs like Nuzlocke you can use characters from specific shit like shakespeare plays, sitcoms or shorter anime.
