Not the first time, but I did it in a playthrough for the hell of it, thinking it was funny if you went the whole game never knowing his name.

However, I didn't know his name was actually Silver until a few years ago.

I named him ???? and looking back find it surprising I was able to solve all the puzzles on my own, I know it took me a while to get through the whole two regions and battle "Ash" but I still managed to do it albeit I used Raikou caught with the masterball and a level 100 Typhlosion with a team of crappy Pokemon

Like seriously. Sure, he says "my name is ???" but it was fucking OBVIOUS that it was a placeholder. Why would that actually be his name? How does that make ANY sense?
