Also see Fairy vs Magic/Space). It would importantly provide an opportunity to re-balance existing types while making sense flavourwise.
Families whose types would likely be retconned: Clefable, Deoxys, Beheeyem, Gigalith; other candidates are dual-typed, and GF has so far shown a reluctance to retcon existing, non-Normal types. I'd also expect a new Psychic/Alien Mega for Mewtwo in the vein of Frieza's 3rd form, completing the set, and a matching Goku equivalent (probably apelike, Alien/Fighting, perhaps a pseudo-legendary? Black fur when not fully evolved, golden when evolved, with the Mega's hair growing long).
As for defensive matchups, how about:
Weak: Grass, Bug, Poison (all 'natural' compound-oriented, deserve offensive boosts), Normal? (perhaps overkill, but Normal needs a boost, and it makes sense - what is normal to terrestrial mons is exotic and dangerous to aliens).
Resist: Fire, Ice (extreme environments), Rock (as in what planets are made of), Fairy (as with the other 3 resistances, could use an offensive nerf; also logical as fairy mons have an affinity with the power of the moon, and aliens might have increased resistance to cosmic radiation).
Immune: water (lolScald and inb4 Volcanion, flavourwise - vastly different cellular makeup).
So there's muh little headcannon. Thoughts?
