Info on Gamescon Reveal.

No.20345257 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
Okay. Today I bring information on an upcoming Pokemon game that's making a surprise reveal at Gamescon, during the video-segment Masuda is hosting. It's NOT related to ORAS, it's not "Pokken", and it's not the Detective Pikachu game.

It's a new RPG for the Nintendo 3DS called "Tales of Pikachu". And, as you might guess by the name, it's a collaboration between Nintendo and Bandai-Namco, and is based on the Tales Series, a classic JRPG-style adventure with your favorite Pokemon. It's not planned to be released till 2016, so what will be revealed at Gamescon is an early sneak-peak.

- Art Style is really cute, with the Pokemon having a bit of a "chibi" look to them. The game is always on a 2D plane when exploring towns, but has a 3D world map.
- Main Character is Pikachu. Chespin, Fennekin, and Froakie are also shown as party members. They wear minor clothing, Pikachu has a headband and cape, Chespin has a belt around its chest and gloves, Fennekin a witch's hat and scarf, and Froakie a ninja mask.
- The NPCs are various other Pokemon. Like in MD Series, the Pokemon can talk here. No humans are seen.
- Battle System is like Tales, side-view "action". Move Pokemon around and can use their moves such as Headbutt, Roll-Out, Ember, and Water Shuriken. Can also summon larger Pokemon such as Steelix, Heracross, and Charizard to attack for you.
- The main enemies shown fighting aren't normal Pokemon, but weird shadowy creatures that take the shape of various Pokemon such as Poochyena, Zubat, and Grimer. There is a fight against a normal Machamp shown, however.
- There will be voice-acting. Japanese dub only shown, with Ikue Ohtani providing the voice of Pikachu like usual, but actually talks.
- 2016 release.
