>I could use a code to jump to the last level of a ton of games, to "save time", but what's the point of bothering to play the game at that point? That is totally a different thing. That would be like warping to the Elite Four and hacking the badges in. We all, for the most part, have fun playing through the game. What do we do when we've done everything in the game? We either stop playing or go into competitive battling.
It's perfectly fine to do it the normal way and the alternative way, the alternative being an easier way for people who don't have as much time on their hands. I seriously don't think it should be a problem for either side if someone else 'trains' differently, as long as the result remains 100% legal. Most of us who use PokeGen make the pokemon 100% identical to one that results from lots of time of tedious breeding. The end result is identical, and gives no one an unfair advantage. Why do people have a problem with this? I really don't know. I figured they just don't like that we can do it so quickly, and they're killing themselves IV/Nature breeding. That shit is not fun at all for a lot of us, and some of us don't have time for that anyway.
>If all you want to do is battle other people, just use Showdown.Yes and no. If you only play pokemon for the competitive part, then yes, Showdown is a good alternative, because you don't really care for the game itself. For those of us who do like the game, it is a different experience if we just switch to a simulator like Showdown. It's like we're not even playing the game any more, because we're not. The only thing the same is the mechanics. Which is why some of us want to continue playing with the actual game, because we want to extend the life of the game we were playing, not just put it a away. If that makes since?
