>>20362933Event legendaries are typically released to promote the movies they star in. Manaphy was available via Ranger during DP's release month to promote the previous movie, then Darkrai the next summer, and so on with Shaymin and Arceus.
Gen V kind of fucked things up though. They had an in-game event for Victini starting on release day, so they had to skip a year since Victini was the only event legendary in the next movie. And the summer after that had the remaining three legendaries released within a month of each other, Keldeo to promote its movie, Meloetta who appeared in the accompanying short movie, and Genesect released early to promote B2W2 despite its debut movie not releasing until the following year.
That's still over 2 and a half years though, and X and Y haven't even been out for a year. This is completely normal. We still have ORAS and the inevitable third Kalos game this gen, so that's two to three years left in the gen and at least two movies to promote, which is when we'll get those events. (Calling it right now, Hoopa will co-star with Primal Kyogre and Groudon in next year's movie).
>>20363113It's possible. The non-Japanese Genesect event was exclusive to B2W2, so they could use a future event to promote another game. But we should be getting Hoopa next year, and it's a Kalos mon so it won't be exclusive to ORAS. Volcanion could be a Z exclusive though if they wanted to go that route again.
