Is this truly so difficulty of a concept for Gamefreak to grasp? At least the first 2 gens had the excuse of not much space on the cart,

Fuck. Well the point stands. I find it hard to believe there isn't room for a couple save slots this gen considering the size of the save files.

Having multiple saves is a self-defeating purpose for the entire Pokemon premise; upon which the franchise was built.
Trading, whether it be local or wifi, was Satoshi's selling point in his pitch for creating the game.
Other reasons include continue the tradition of it being a single save rpg game. As well as and probably the more obvious and lucrative reason it selling more games by staying a "single-save file game".

There are more beneficial reasons to GameFreak and Nintendo for keeping things the way they are, than reasons for them changing it.

Pretty much. Besides the business reasons, it also makes it feel more personal; it wouldn't make sense for Nintendogs or Animal Crossing to allow multiple save files, as it's a cartridge that's meant to be special to you and contains the Pokémon/dogs/town that's special to you.

Yeah but before the Pokemon Bank was put in, unless you used 3rd party stuff to add/remove your pokemon you couldn't ever play the story again wirhout losing everything.

You have a point. The ability to be able to play through again was virtually nonexistent unless you didn't mind wiping your save.

But this again only proves that it would mean more sales if people wanted a re-play.

Lets say you beat your game and want to go through it again but don't want to lose all your progress. Well now you have 1 to 2 other versions to choose from since they usually released them trios.
Some people now become MORE willing to purchase the game again since its as if they are purchasing a different game. They can rationalize the purchase a lot easier, since its a different version, different exclusives, different packaging.

Its a perfect marketing technique.
Im not at all against it, and I prefer single save file.
